Ramona has been involved with education and advocacy in the mental health industry since 2010. Certified to teach NAMI Family-to-Family, certified in Mental Health First Aid, and a seasoned peer facilitator for family support groups, all led Ramona to work as the Family Advocate for the Mental Wellness Center & NAMI, providing services to individuals and families living with mental illness. Ramona’s personal experience in caring for a family member with mental illness and her countless hours supporting family members navigate their own journeys with mental illness, has made Ramona an effective advocate.
An award-winning author and publisher of bilingual books for children with multicultural themes, Ramona entered the publishing industry in 1996. Girded with lots of tenacity as well as skills in writing, public relations and marketing, she built a successful, small publishing company with the goal of empowering children and expanding their knowledge of other cultures. Since, Ramona has written material for middle school readers as well as embarked on a bilingual publication supporting families providing caregiving assistance to family members living with a mental illness.
