LaRisa Chambers moved to Santa Barbara in September of 2019 from Lawrence, Kansas. LaRisa graduated from the University of Kansas in 1995 with a BA in Political Science. Shortly after graduation, she moved to Austin, Texas where she was a cancer information specialist and fundraiser for the American Cancer Society for 11 years. She then moved back to Lawrence in 2007 where she was a Senior Development Director for KU Endowment for 12 years. While in Lawrence she served on many nonprofit and community boards, including the Endowment Board of the Bert Nash Community Mental Health Center.
LaRisa joined the Mental Wellness Center Board of Directors in January 2021 after serving on the Development Task Force since 2020. For LaRisa, working with the Mental Wellness Center matches her passion and relationship building and fundraising skillsets, allowing her to use her personal experience with mental health issues, a big heart to serve others and to support a mission she believes in very passionately.
