Alexis Malatesta is a Boston native who moved to sunny Santa Barbara in 2017. She graduated from the University of Vermont in 2013, where she majored in Secondary Education with a concentration in English. After graduating, she worked as a traveling teacher for Readak Education Services and had the great pleasure of teaching in over 15 schools all over the Caribbean and US, including Puerto and Hawaii. Her love of working with students continued to flourish as she shifted her focus toward mental health while working for The Mentor Network as a Therapeutic Support Specialist, providing in-home care for at risk youth and families. The work was extremely rewarding and eye-opening and inspired Alexis to pursue a career in mental health.
Now, as the Youth Education Coordinator at the Mental Wellness Center, Alexis supports the incredible and varied programming offered to our communities youth and adult allies. She looks forward to pursing her Masters in the mental health field and continuing to strengthen the community through education, programming and outreach at MWC.
