Employment ServicesThe
Employment Services Program at the Mental Wellness Center works to provide
community employment services to adults with mental health needs. We will
assist you in finding competitive employment in jobs in which you are
interested and with the level of professional support you need.
Jobs are
found with local and private employers where disabled and non-disabled
individuals work together for competitive pay. This program also provides the
local business community with a talented labor pool and support services in
order to assist them in meeting their staffing needs.
The
local Department of Rehabilitation (DOR) makes referrals to the Mental Wellness
Center’s Employment Services. If you or someone you know needs help with
employment, please contact the DOR at (805) 560-8130. The DOR will refer you to
Employment Services after meeting with you and assessing your needs.
Employment
Services at the Mental Wellness Center is operated by a dedicated team of
employees and interns who will assist you in your search for employment. You
will receive one-on-one assistance every week as you work to reach your
employment goals.
We offer
employment workshops on a weekly basis that help train you for the working
world. Job Club is a four week program that covers how to build a resume, fill
out applications for employment, be a team player, overcome barriers, personal
presentation, and interview skills. We also have daily computer lab hours to
help you in your job search or improve your computer literacy.
